5as advertisedNov 22, 2011
By runner_ag
Bought these from Costco($20 for the set) so I could take extra coffee to work without it leaking in my laptop bag. Works great and my coffee is still very hot into the early afternoon. couldn't be happier. No leaks whatsoever in my bag.

The push button system can leave some on the opening. that can be annoying and lead to drips. You absolutely must release the button before taking the mug off of your mouth. If I could take off half a star for this I would, but I don't think it warrants a full star, so 5 stars it is.

Normally I leave people to their opinions, but I feel the need to address the one negative review:

They state that you can't fill it to maximum capacity without it leaking. This is 100% false. I fill mine to a full 16 ounces every day with no issues. I have fill them with water and poured into a measuring cup to verify. Filling them to where the metal meets the plastic threads is a full 16 ounces and produces no leaks for me.

as for difficulty screwing it on properly . . . that's a little more subjective, but I have had zero problem with this. Frankly, the way it's designed, I don't see how anyone can have this problem. The threads seat easily for me and require a simple quarter turn. I am sitting at my desk trying to replicate the problem and can't. it seems physically impossible to cross-thread it at all.

3But it drips!Dec 02, 2011
By K. Mentzer
We bought a two pack from Costco because we loved our other Contigo mugs. First the bad: It drips. The rounded top makes it hard to take a sip without leaving a drip on the top edge or side of the lid. It's just enough to make its way down the side and get on your hands, cup holder or clothing. My wife has the same problem, so I don't think it's just me. I still use the mug, but now I'm in the habit of licking the side of the mug after every sip, which must look really odd to people sitting next to me in traffic.

The good: It doesn't leak (unless you press the button), holds 16oz, keeps my mocha warm for a couple of hours and is easy to use. If it wasn't for that drip thing, I'd give it 5 stars.

The Contigo mugs with the West Loop design do get 5 stars. All the good things from this mug and no drips.

One hint: If you fill the mug really full, depress the button as you screw on the top. That will keep the air pressure from pushing the coffee up and out.

5Dream MugSep 13, 2011

The mug you have been looking for!
Coffee is an essential to my life and most importantly my mornings, but I don't have the time to sit and enjoy a nice cup of Joe. The Contigo auto seal travel mug came into my life and gave me uplifting joy and satisfaction. In my many years of being a to-go kind of girl I have gone through many travel mugs for my morning beverage, and I had almost given up hope to finding one worth even taking with me. I more than often came across the dreadful problem of leaking, spilling, being to hot to hold, losing heat to quick, not fitting in my cup holder, and worst of all, every time I would tilt the cup to drink coffee would somehow escape the cup from somewhere and dribble onto my clothes, often the ones that stain easily. None of those flaws are expectable and time and again can start your morning off wrong.
The Contigo travel mug was made with the purpose of making people happy. The mugs are thermo and insulated. They keep beverages either really hot or really cold for an exceptionally long time. They hold up to about two cups of coffee, which is just the perfect amount. When holding the cup it is a perfect fit and is easy to hold. The cup never slips from ones hands because it has amazing rubber grips, not to mention they are colorful grips just to add some positive vibes to your day. The appearance is very professional and well conducted with the stainless steal. Quality is a key component that is most certainly fulfilled. When holding the cup you can't feel whether it is a hot or cold because the liquid is in a separate section that is not touching the outer layer from the inside of the cup that would transfer heat or coldness to ones hand. If the beverage is ice cold there will be no condensation because of this ingenious mug technology. Condensation is a very frustrating consequence of a ice-cold refreshment, but not even a problem with the Contigo. The mug fits into all of my own cup holders and fits most standard cup holders. It also has a button that is a trigger similar to an on to off button, but instead is a sealed open to close button. You press the button when you want to take a sip and when you release the opening automatically seals back up making the mug completely spill proof. You can even toss it in your purse, book bag, briefcase, or tote with confidence that it will not leak in anyway. You can go hours without taking a sip and go back to the hot beverage and it will still remain at a nice warm temperature to drink. Cold beverages stay cool even longer. These cups are not only applicable for students, teachers, office workers, but also very convenient to take on a desert trip to keep beverages cool in the demanding heat. The handy cup can even be of great joy to early risers that start their days early and are seeking to keep their beverage for a long period of time at the temperature that is best for their beverage. Another great feature to the travel mug is that it is dishwasher safe, another essential aspect to my mug purchases.
The mugs come in a pack of two and are appropriately priced. They come in a variety of colors, so the choice is yours. Though they are slightly prices higher than the average mug they are well worth the price and a great value. In my eyes they are a steal because the travel mug is nearly perfected and paying a slightly higher price would actually be less expensive long-term because of all the wasted money on hopeless travel mugs that contain all the flaws that anyone tries to avoid.

Drink on fellow to-go cup lovers!

5Excellent productOct 17, 2011

Mugs are an excellent design--allow for one hand operation, keeps liquids cold or hot for an extended period of time, and very sturdy. They are expensive but well worth the cost,

3Contigo coffee mugsJan 05, 2012
By R. Schmidt "R. Schmidt"
We have another version of the Contigo self sealing coffee mugs and absolutely love them. I purchased these because they were cheaper than the other version. The rubber ring on the bottom falls off and they are harder to clean because they are narrower than the other version. Would reccommend the original style.
